How Does This Process Work?
The goal is to get to the 1 thing, which is how the Gospel changes our experience of shame before God to one of grateful, humble adoration. And, thankfully, there are many means that God’s Spirit uses to bring us there.
These steps are one way, borrowing from one set of patterns in Scripture, that the Spirit might use to accomplish this. You don’t have to go through all the steps on every level to get there. Often one or two questions are enough to open up new levels of the conversation.
But, shame is a difficult thing to face. We are deeply invested in keeping our shame, and other’s shame hidden (link to cultural Implications). So while some attempts to to gain deeper insight will be rewarded quickly, others will take consistent effort over time.
The steps are only there to guide us toward the goal and provide next steps when things feel stuck. So this in itself is not a framework. There is a framework that lies underneath it, which explains how these pieces fit together, and why they work the way they do.
That obviously requires more explanation, and I will be building out those parts of this site as I can. As you might have guessed, this is quite visual, and so requires more work to present than the writing I’ve done so far.
Because of the kind of material I am trying to present, it is much easier to communicate directly when I can ask and answer questions. So, if you want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d be glad to walk you through a presentation and answer your questions beyond what I can do here.
